Senior REP Program

It's hard to believe another school year is rapidly coming to a close and it's time to begin planning for the Class of 2009. Actually I'm even a bit behind on things due to my absence! I am now accepting applications for our Senior Representatives for the Class of 2009.
I am looking for members of the class of 2009 who have that winning personality. If your involved in sports, clubs or any other extra curricula rs more then likely you know exactly what I mean about a winning personality. I am looking for the go-getters... the class members who stands out from the crowd. If it sounds like I'm describing you perfectly then your just the student I'm looking for.
By signing on to be a Senior REP for our studio you will be eligible to earn all sorts of great rewards. The more referrals you generate the greater your reward. Any students in the greater Madison/Dane County area are eligible. So if your up for the challenge email or call the studio and we will send you a short application form. Don't wait to long to take advantage of this offer though... I'll only be accepting one student from each school.

And the winner is.....

Photo # 7!!!!

Congratulations to the new proud parents of baby Ella. Photo # 7 earned 532 votes! That's incredible and way more votes then I ever anticipated... nice job. For winning the contest Mom & Dad will receive a 16x20 canvas gallery wrap of the image of their choosing from their next photo session. The winning photo will also be placed on the splash page of my website for all future visitors to enjoy.
Be sure to continue to stop by the blog for future contests & special offers... I've got all kinds of goodies in the works! Oh... and did you see the Oscars last night... (honestly a bit boring at times) but the song from "Once" won for best song... weren't they just the cutest with their shocked expressions! Loved it!!

The Oscars!!!!!

I am a movie junkie! I say it loud and proud for all to hear. Blockbusters, Independents, Foreign Films.. I love them all. I even fancied myself an actress for a very short & embarrassing time in college:) Now a days I just find the movies to be an escape from the ordinary.. a chance to step into the life of someone different from myself. The Cinematography, costumes, camera angles.... I soak it all in on as regular a basis as possible.
I live for the Oscars. When I was little I would mark the date on my calendar and anxiously wait for the big day when I could see all the big stars and root for my favorites of the previous year. While I may not always agree with the Academy's selections (Brokeback Mountain soooo deserved the award over Crash) I still love the whole process. Plus I find so many wonderful Independent films thanks to their nominations. With the writers strike called off and only 6 hours to go I am like a kid on Christmas morning.
Each year as the days lead up to the Oscars it becomes a mission for Aaron and I to view as many of the nominated films as possible, otherwise really how can you fairly root for a favorite... yes I realize I am a dork:) Unfortunately this year with my surgery falling a few weeks prior to the big day I am sad to say I haven't seen even all of the Best Picture Nominees. I feel like such a fraud... ;) I do have some favorites in the batch though. "Juno" is just delightful. If you haven't yet seen this film... do it. It has been a long time since I have seen a film that was so perfectly cast and Ellen Page is just adorable.
Another favorite of mine is "Once". You won't see this movie up for any of the big awards as it's a low budget independent film... but that it what I love about it. You will see one of the films original songs up for the Best Song category. I am absolutely in love with this film... it's a sweet story about two musicians you meet and strike up a friendship as they work together to create an album of their collaboration. My assistant Karen and I saw this film last summer and have been addicted to the soundtrack ever since. It is just wonderful, there is one song in particular that still gives me chills every time I hear it. Soooo if you haven't seen this film yet.. go check it out. After you've seen it make a call to the Overture Center. I just got a notice yesterday that Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova (the couple that stars in the film & wrote the music) will be in Madison in June to perform the music from the film. Soooooo excited for that show!!! You'll have to at least get behind me in line when you decide you want tickets:)
Enjoy the show tonight!.... I know I will

Thank you & a sneak peek.....

Before I head off to the doctor's tomorrow I just had to post a quick thank you to all of you. I received so many emails and phone calls today with well wishes. I truly have some of the best clients around... thank you so much for the kind words.

I also need to share a quick sneak peek here of baby "A" for her proud parents. This sweet little gem was in the studio Saturday for her one year portrait session. I had hoped to have all of her photos proofed and ready to go before my surgery but there were just too many last minute projects to finish up.... so a sneak peek for mom & dad while they patiently wait for me to get back on my feet. Isn't she a doll??

A Contest of Sorts.....

Since I will be unable to blog for a while following my surgery this seems like the perfect opportunity to post a little contest for all of you faithful blog readers. Here's the 411... It never fails that come January - March my schedule slows down a bit. I try to take advantage of this time by working on the details of my business that get put on the back burner during the busy season. One of these projects is also inevitably updating my website with new images. This year I will also be updating my splash page... this is the series of images that plays as a slideshow when you first enter my website.

I have narrowed down my list of favorite images of my younger clients to the images you see below. Believe me, narrowing it down to this small group was tough! So choosing that one image for the splash page is just more then my poor indecisive soul can take. That's where you come in.... Click on the poll below to vote for your favorite. The client who's photo receives the most votes will receive a free 16x20 gallery wrapped print of their choosing from their next session. (valued at more then $100) And.. of course, their photo will also be featured on the splash page of my website. To play fair ILP addresses will be blocked from voting multiple times... but your welcome to invite as many friends and family members to vote as you'd like.

Voting will end Monday February 25th @ 5:00 pm

Availability

A note to clients.... I will be taking a medical leave of absence starting Wednesday February 13th through the 21st. I will be having surgery on the 13th and expect to need the following week or two to recover. I will spare you the gory details. The few times I have answered questions I always got the same response.... immediately the persons hands come up to cover their face, a look of fear and horror crosses into their eyes and a slight gasp escapes their lips... not exactly the type of reaction that helps to calm my nerves:)
I will not be scheduling any portrait sessions until after the 27th. The only exception may be for a newborn session since we can't predict exactly when they will arrive. If your baby should arrive during this window please give me a call or drop me an email and we can discuss possible session dates. Ideally I would still like to schedule these sessions within those first 10 days. I will be responding to email and phone messages during this time, although it may take me a bit longer then usual. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I take some time off to recover. Any orders recently placed or placed during my leave will continue to be processed as usual by my staff.

Since I know that a blog post without photos is terribly boring I thought I show you my most recent newborn session. Sweet baby "U" and her beautiful mom.....

Ruth & Mike

Well once again I am behind on blogging... so much craziness right now, but I'll tell you all about that in another post. Right now I want to introduce you to Ruth & Mike, who may very well have been married on the coldest day this year! Actually to say it was cold is kind of like saying -10 is a bit chilly... it was frigidly cold. Good thing these two are planners... from the fur muffs to the hand warmers , they had all angles covered. So it came as no surprise that they also thought of every detail possible when decorating their reception hall. It most definitely was a winter wonderland. Ruth & Mike it was a pleasure finally meeting the two of you, thanks so much for letting me be a part of your special day.

Don't you just love this?!? Such a neat idea to add a touch of color to the entire room!

First Dance.....
