7 days new

Meet sweet seven day old Miss A. There is really nothing as beautiful as the warm glow that lights the faces of a brand new family. At just seven days new Miss A already had mom & dad tightly wrapped around her little finger. And can you really blame them... I mean just look at her sweetness. I am thrilled to have this beauty joining our baby steps plan.

The only way Miss A was content to be naked, enjoying the warmth of dad. Love the contrast of dads muscles against her sweet new skin. Definitely a favorite.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays, to those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, from all of us at Angelic Angles Photography! A big thank you goes out to everyone who participated in our food bank drive. Those of you who brought extra cans.. or who forgot their cans and still made an extra trip to drop them off before the holidays (I won't name any names :) Your generosity is much appreciated and I know it will help to feed a number of families this winter.

Interested in continuing that celebration of the holiday spirit? Then join me this Saturday evening December 23rd at the High Noon Saloon for the Cadillac Joe Memorial Winter Fest. The show starts at 8 pm and there will be loads of great music, fond memories and fun as we celebrate the life of Joe. If you've followed my blog for some time now then you already know that Joe was my father-in-law, an accomplished musician and incredible person in general. Joe passed away this July after a courageous three year battle with cancer. We held a benefit last year on this very same date to raise money for Joe's medical expenses. This year we are coming together to remember Joe, enjoy his music and all funds raised from the event will go to the UW Hospitals Cancer Center. $ 7 to get in... I hope to see you there!

And because a post without a photo is just not my style.... here's one to put you in the holiday mood.

Giving Thanks.....

It would be easy this year to Not see the many blessings in my life. It certainly hasn't been an easy year, and each holiday only makes the absences and trials of the past year all the more evident in my heart. But to not pay witness to the many blessings in my life would mean I'd gone blind. For if you laid all of my many blessings out in a row they would put the Black Friday sales lines to shame. I am truly, truly a lucky girl. I am thankful every day for Aaron and my incredible family and friends. They are one amazing bunch and I certainly don't tell them often enough.

This year I'm especially thankful for the amazing couples and families I have the opportunity to work with. I know I say it all the time but it's so true that I have the very best clients or friends as I prefer to think of them. Each newborn I get to snuggle or first kiss I get to witness is a true blessing. There is nothing more exciting to me then to see a wedding client return for photos once their family begins to grow. This year I give thanks for having a career that allows me to share in these incredible life milestones. A huge thank you to all of my incredible clients, 'friends'!

Studio Hours

Just a quick note to clients... the studio will be closed this week Thursday November 5th. Due to a scheduling conflict both myself and Jamie will be out of town. The studio will reopen our regularly scheduled hours next week Monday at 10:00 am. I will be out of town until Tuesday so emails and voicemails may not be responded to until my return. If you'd like to reach Jamie at the studio on Monday you can reach her at 608-257-1244.

I will be hitting the road for a long weekend with my husband and his band. They have a couple of gigs in Atlanta and since I have a wedding free weekend I decided to play the role of band groupie. :) In addition to their normal weekend of gigging this trip is unique because they will be doing a photo shoot in Atlanta to promote their recent clothing endorsement with Riejuno. Imagine my excitement when I learned their photographer will be non other then Hannibal Matthews! I am stoked to get a behind the scenes look at Mr. Matthews in action. If your not familiar with his work check out his website.... if your a Reality TV junkie or you like HipHop your sure to recognize some of the celebrities on his site. So until I return I'll work on my hip hop slang and leave you with this photo of a scary monster who recently visited my studio....
Catch you on the flip side. Okay, that's about as hip hop as I go. :)

Angel's Wish Auction

I have loads of beautiful weddings to share with you all... behind on blog posts again.. must be wedding season;) But quickly I first have to tell all of you about a wonderful organization I was just made aware of last year. Angel's Wish is an all volunteer organization that is "dedicated to reducing animal overpopulation, rehoming companion animals, and raising awareness of animal welfare issues in South Central Wisconsin." The animals of Angel's Wish are only euthanized for severe medical reasons and the organization helps to divert animals from ever arriving in local shelters where euthanizing is common practice. Both of our cats were adopted from local non-euthanizing shelters, so the mission statement of Angel's Wish is one that is close to my own heart. Last year I took part in their fundraising efforts and I'm proud to do it again this year. Angel's Wish is holding an online auction to raise much needed funds for their organization. You can bid on gift certificates to local restaurants, hotel stays as well as lots of pet related necessities. This year you can also bid on a $150 gift certificate for Angelic Angles Photography... so if you were planning to schedule a portrait session here's your chance to save some money and help support a great cause all at the same time. Click here to check out all the auction goodies. The auction ends Tuesday June 30th at 5:00 pm.

Availability......

There are some days that drag by. Where every hour seems like an eternity. And there are some days that fly by in the blink of an eye. And then there are the days that are so far off in the distance that it feels as though they will never arrive. Those special dates which only seem possible because of that little red X on your calendar, months and months in the future.

Tomorrow the little red X I've been so patiently awaiting finally arrives.
We've cashed in our frequent flyer miles, and my bags are nearly packed. I can't believe I actually made it through this week! You know those days that fly by?? Well that was my week... I was certain there was no way I would ever finish editing all of my sessions before boarding our flight. But after being chained to my computer for 10 days straight there they are, all edited posted and ready for the world to see. Unfortunately in order to complete that goal I did things a little out of order. I normally do the blog posts for each wedding before the gallery goes live. I made a guess though that my couples would much prefer to see all their photos now if given the choice. So blog readers... I LOVE ya! But your going to have to wait for those posts after I return.

I have so many wonderful posts to share with you... 2 beautiful wedding couples and some newborn pics of my newest nephew Tristan who finally made his appearance on just yesterday. Congratulations again Lia & Tibor!!!! And of course I will have oodles of stories and photos to share with you from our vacation. The trip of a lifetime... or at least that's what I like to call it :) We will be in Thailand for 18 days of adventure, excitement and relaxation. We are even spending 3 days at an elephant refuge working with the animals! I am so excited... if you couldn't tell!

If you wish to schedule a portrait session feel free to email or call during my absence. I will have limited access to email but I will get back to you as soon as I can. Reprint orders placed on the website or via email will all be forwarded on to Jamie back at the office. Your orders will be processed as usual without delay. And because a post without photos is oh so boring... I will leave you with two photos of the beautiful wedding couples I photographed in January.

The oh so sweet Melinda & Aaron....

And one last photo because this one is particularly special to me... Three Angelic Angles Brides all together, and everyone of them is stunning. How lucky am I to work with such wonderful clients???

A HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY.....

I love this time of year.... waking up to the beautiful snow covered trees in the morning, the twinkle lights on your way home from work, and the anticipation and excitement on every child's face when you mention Santa. But the thing I love most about Christmas (besides the holiday cookies of course :) is shopping for that perfect gift. Call me crazy.. but as I get older and my families have chosen to cut back on the gifts we exchange my excitement for Christmas seems to lessen a bit each year.

Yes, I realize this makes me sound like a spoiled child who needs her Christmas presents.... and don't get me wrong... what girl doesn't love getting a present? But in reality it's the giving that I really miss out on. I love making mental notes when a conversation with a friend or loved one draws to a great gift idea. I love pouring through the pages of Uncommon Goods and Red Envelope searching for the perfect, unexpected present. And on Christmas when that gift is opened.. I get all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings as I watch the recipient's face break into an award winning smile. That to me... is Christmas.

So why am I blogging about this?!?! Well I'm glad you asked. As my gift list for family and friends seems to shorten each year I've decided I want those warm and fuzzy feelings back... and you my lovely blog readers are going to reap the benefits of my 'need to give'. Starting this Friday December 12th I am going to be sponsoring my own Twelve Days of Christmas. For the 12 days leading up to Christmas Eve I will pick a random person from my blog subscriber list to win the daily prize. As we get closer to the holidays the prize values will increase. What do you need to do to enter??? Well, nothing if your already a blog subscriber.. your already entered.... but you have to be a blog subscriber to win. Sooo if you know a friend or family member who is also a client or wants to be a client of Angelic Angles Photographer... share the holiday spirit and pass this information along. All they need to do is fill in the box to the right of the blog that signs them up as a blog subscriber. Good luck... and thanks again for stopping by to read the blog!

* Until the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway is complete this post will remain at the top of the blog. Scroll down to see new wedding posts as they arrive.

Go Brewers!!!!

If your anything like me your simply not ready to give up on summer yet. With 80 degree days there just seems no reason to bow down to fall, these are the perfect summer days I want to enjoy at the Terrace while a cool breeze blows in from the lake. Better yet.... I want to enjoy them at the ballpark with a crowd of cheering fans and of course - a brat with stadium sauce. Much like the summer season I am no where near ready to give up on my Brewers. After watching their series with the Pirates and tonight's game against the Cubs, I'm pretty sure the feelings mutual. Two games left and a wild card spot dangles before us.

Tomorrow I have the privilege of photographing the adorable Lynn & Lucas' wedding. I already know from our final meeting this past week that Karen and I are going to have a ball with this wedding party. As I go to bed tonight, excited as always for my Saturday wedding.. I'm also going to say a silent prayer that Lucas has some baseball fans in his wedding party. :) I am sooo going to need some updates!

And since a blog post without a photo is just no fun at all I leave you with this gem. Doesn't he look like he's calling his shot????

Update

It is with a heavy heart that I write this blog post. Baby Molly passed away last Thursday in the arms of her parents. She spent an incredible twelve hours surrounded by an overwhelming amount of love and concern. Molly was the very definition of an angel. I feel so privileged to have been a part of her short but so breathtakingly beautiful life. My prayers and love go out to her family during this difficult time.

The Story of Molly......

Photographing maternities and newborns has always been one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. It's such an exciting and amazing time... getting ready to welcome that new addition into the family. Each one of these beautiful bundles holds a special place in the heart of their proud "Aunt" Jennifer. Recently I had a maternity session for baby Molly. This sweet little one has grabbed a hold of my heart in ways I never imagined and which have changed me forever.

Baby Molly has been diagnosed with a serious congenital heart defect. To correct this heart condition Molly would need to undergo a series of three open heart surgeries. With other medical conditions complicating the situation the doctors say it's unlikely Molly would survive these surgeries. As Molly's delivery date approaches this week her family is awash of emotions... excitement and love to finally meet Molly and at the same time sadness and anxiety as they don't know how long they will have to enjoy her presence. My heart breaks for Molly & her family; I can't even begin to imagine the emotions they are feeling. I'm sure she would argue otherwise but Molly's mother is one of the strongest, bravest individuals I have ever met. In speaking of Molly & the future she says, "In her (Mollys) short time with us she will experience more love and concern then some do in a entire lifetime. What a beautiful gift that is."

The images you see below are from a maternity session I shot for Molly as a member of the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation. This is a non-profit organization that assists families suffering an early infant loss by documenting the lives of those cut too short with beautiful portraits. These portraits will last for generations, honoring and celebrating these tiny lives. If you or someone you know is living with a critically ill child, please let them know that this service is available. There is absolutely no charge for these sessions.

I want to thank Molly's family for the honor of inviting me into their lives and for allowing me to share their story here in the hopes of making other families aware of the services of NILMDTS. To witness the love this family holds in their hearts for a sister/daughter they have yet to meet is so inspiring. As the day draws near where I will have the opportunity to meet Molly I find my prayers take on more urgency as I pray for a miracle. If your inclined to pray, please put out a special thought for baby Molly and her family.

Cutie Patooties!

So once again I find myself behind on blogging.... life just gets in the way sometimes! The past few weeks have been all about the little ones. Although most of these sessions have already been proofed for the proud parents I still wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorites with you. These cutie patooties are just too precious not to share!

First up is sweet baby "M". This beauty had the most intense eyes.... not surprising I suppose considering her gorgeous parents. Miss "M" was determined not too miss a moment of my visit! Feeding, cuddling, rocking... she fought hard, but in the end we were able to get a few sleeping photos.

Next up is our birthday boy "N". I was lucky enough to work with mom & dad a few years ago on their wedding day. What a treat it was to see them again as a family. They are such an incredible family... so full of energy and vibrancy. I don't think N stopped smiling the whole time!

Last but certainly not least we have the adorable Mr. "W". I fell in love with his baby blues and all of his chubby little rolls. Don't these cheeks just scream at you for a little squeeze? He is definitely a ladies man :)

The Miracle of Life

As a photographer I get the opportunity to work with individuals and their families at the very highlights of their lives.... whether it be graduation from high school or the much anticipated wedding day. I experience genuine emotions through my camera viewfinder each and every time I go to work. There are many times when I find myself choked up during a father's speech to his daughter on her wedding day... emotions run high in my line of work. But nothing could have prepared me for the day I spent with Becky and Tim in early March. This was truly one of the most incredible photographic experiences of my life!

After working with Becky & Tim for their maternity session they approached me with the idea of photographing the delivery. We discussed the specifics a bit and I agreed to photograph their son's birth in a photo journalistic style... simply as a silent observer. As Becky's due date approached I found myself going to bed each night with my cell phone on the nightstand close by and my camera bag packed and ready to go. Lucky for me the call never came in the middle of the night... it came at about 2:00 in the afternoon. The plan was that I would be notified when they checked in to the hospital and then again when she had progressed a bit further along. Those calls came within a matter of 30 minutes of one another. I have to thank the Madison Police Department for being no where near the vicinity of Park Street that afternoon because I was definitely driving a touch over the speed limit. Thank goodness I did though... after finding Becky & Tim I was only in the room at most 20 minutes before their son made his appearance. There were a lot of tears and a lot of smiles... it was a moment I won't soon forget.

Many of my close friends and family knew that I was "on call" to photograph a birth. So following the delivery I was asked many times over how it went. Each time I recounted the story my audience would tear up remembering their own child's birth. I decided I really needed to share the incredible experience I captured. A huge thank you to Becky & Tim for allowing me to be a part of their first day as a family and for allowing me to share these pictures here with all of you. Much love * baby N's proud "Aunt" Jennifer ;)

Tim's mother was sending some prayers out for Becky & baby.....

I just adore this picture! I can only imagine what it is like to have that first touch... making
actual skin to skin contact with your child after waiting to meet them for 9 months.

At 10 days old handsome baby "N" visited me in the studio for his official newborn session.
